Special Initiatives

Special Initiative Training Programs, developed by CPWDC, implemented through the Central PA CareerLink® offices, and often funded with competitive grant funds, are intended to meet the education and job training needs of the workforce.

These special training initiatives vary in length and scope depending on factors such as the needs of employers, the needs of job seekers, and anticipated growth in emerging industries.

Fit 4 CareersFIT 4 Careers is a short-term, skill training program designed to help any job seeker plan and prepare for a career by focusing on the entry-level skills needed to obtain employment in one of the following industries:

  • Natural Gas
  • Health Care
  • Building & Construction
  • Advanced Manufacturing

The Central Pennsylvania Summer Employment Experience (SEE) is designed for youth and young adults ages 16 to 24. SEE provides a short-term paid work experience, academic enrichment and career development activities. Participants must meet eligibility requirements.Read more>> This six-month, paid training program is for young adults, 18 to 24 years of age, who reside in Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties. Participants can earn pre-apprenticeship certificates in construction trades while building and renovating affordable housing, obtain their GED, and develop leadership skills to help them become self-sufficient.Read more >>
