Total employment in the Central Region is expected to grow by 4% during the next 5 years. In addition to this projected job growth, there are expected to be other opportunities as workers begin to retire or change careers. In total, there are expected to be about 55,000 total job openings in the Central Region, which translates to over 10,000 openings per year.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s workforce development strategy seeks to target education and training dollars to High Priority Occupations, which are job categories that are in demand by employers, have higher skill needs and are most likely to provide family-sustaining wages.
