Sector Partnership National Dislocated Worker Grant:
Developing Sector Based Integrated Education and Training (IET) | Creating Effective Soft Skills Development Tools Using the Foundational Skills Framework

KayLynn Hamilton, Penn State Institute for the Study of Adult Literacy and CPWDC Workforce Development Board member, presented to stakeholders during the United States Department of Labor National Dislocated Worker Grant Summit on September 14, 2017. With funding from a National Dislocated Worker Sector Partnership Grant, CPWDC partnered with Penn State in developing Integrated Education and Training (IET) materials contextualized to both advanced manufacturing and healthcare. In addition, the organizations partnered to create stand-alone workshops to use the Foundational Skills Framework to develop workplace skills in an IET. Dislocated workers are targeted for the pilot programs but these activities can benefit all job seekers who wish to increase their basic skills and/or employability skills.
